The Xbox One was revealed last month at a Microsoft press conference which centered around the media capabilities of the console. The E3 press conference that just finished focused on games, most of them exclusive launch titles for the Xbox One.

The Xbox One is already available for pre-order from stores [amazon_link id=”B00BE4OUBG” target=”_blank” ]like Amazon[/amazon_link]. Microsoft is expected to provide more details about the Xbox One this week.

LESS THAN I FEARED, MORE THAN I HOPED. i’M JUSTIFYING IT TO MYSELF BY COMPARING IT TO THE PRICE OF AN EQUIVALENT SPEC PC. iT’S DISAPPOINTING THAT THE UK PRICE IS RELATIVELY HIGHER THAN us AS USUAL, BUT THE ISSUE OF VAT RAISES IT’S HEAD AGAIN. jUST LOOK AT COMPARABLE US/UK IPHONE PRICING FOR SIMILAR EXAMPLES.

Its not a surprise that the UK is more expensive – as you say we’re used to now. Your point about VAT is well taken though and effectively adds 20% to the US price. We can’t really blame Microsoft for that one.

If you think of the Xbox One as your primary system the £430 is not so bad, especially compared to a gaming PC. However if you are a PC gamer who has already paid for a modern gaming PC then its harder to justify as a secondary system. I’m curious to see if the fact that the PS4 is £80 cheaper is going to make a significant difference.
