Winnie-the-Pooh is one of the ultimate children’s classics and the stories within has been rewritten, newly illustrated and transcribed for games, TV and films. I enjoy getting back to the original and when my daughter fell in love with the characters from the 100 Aker Wood I wanted her to also know and love the original writing of A.A. Milne with its charming drawings.
After reading the Kindle edition, we moved on to the dramatized audio book which served as an introduction to the world and wonders of audio books. Read by a stellar cast, including Stephen Fry, Jane Horrocks, Geoffrey Palmer, Judi Dench, Finty Williams, Robert Daws, Michael Williams, it brings to life each character in a memorable reading that can be listened to again and again.

About A.A. Milne
Alan Milne (1882 – 1956) was born in London, went to a small public school where his father was a schoolmaster and H.G. Wells one of his teachers. He went on to study mathematics at Westminster School and Trinity College, Cambridge. His poems and stories, inspired by his son Christopher Robin and wife Daphne, were not written as children’s fiction, despite now being viewed as quintessential children’s literature. The Pooh books, first published in the 1920’s, have been printed in over 25 languages and is well-known to millions worldwide.

It is not the cheapest children’s books on the market, but it is a cost-effective choice at under £10 for a 2 hour audio book and a fiver for the Kindle edition. There isn’t really a price tag that can be placed on the magic of the hundred acre wood and this audio edition really brings it to life.

The characters of the Hundred Acre wood come to life in the original books in a magical way that shouldn’t be missed and narration enhances the text in a delightful way. Winnie-the-Pooh is a story for all ages. Everyone should read it at least once in a lifetime and its characters will stay with you forever. Highly recommended.
