West Bay is a quaint harbour village in Dorset, famous as the primary filming location for British hit crime series ‘Broadchurch’. It’s an idyllic get away spot filled with apartments to rent and places to eat. It has a pebble beach that stretches for miles and a working harbour excellent for a spot of crabbing. The South West Coast path is accessible from the beach that offers lovely walks and sunset at West Bay is spectacular.
Parkdean’s West Bay Holiday Park offers a range of static caravans as well as camping and tourer pitches. Bedding and entertainment passes is included in the price. Free facilities include a heated indoor pool with small flume and separate toddler pool, an adventure play park, modest lending library and free wi-fi, as well as the usual evening entertainment for children and adults that are hosted daily at The Riverside Club.
The Jurassic Coast is one of our favourite get-away spots and West Bay is a charming base for a short-break or holiday. West Bay Holiday Park offers functional, budget accommodation in an excellent location across from the harbour very close to the beach. We stayed in an extra wide caravan with central heating (much appreciate on still chilly April nights) and found it perfectly adequate. The only notable drawback was the beds. Never great in caravans, the mattresses here were particularly well-used with marked wear and tear evident in many lumpy spots and the ruffle of plastic covering.
The most noteworthy feature was definitely its location. Although there’s no sea view, the park is situated in the centre of West Bay and the beach, shops, pool and local places to eat were all within a 5-minute walk. Holiday Parks is quintessential family accommodation and West Bay is a great choice for families with free access to a pool that’s open daily in the morning and afternoon, a decent play park, much beloved 2p machines and children’s early evening entertainment that they seem to thoroughly enjoy. It also makes a great base for exploring the local area that certainly has a lot to offer. A great budget choice.
