We reviewed the Surface RT a few weeks ago and I am personally using it as my on the go machine and finding it perfect for my needs. The only big issue has been a lack of cases that work well with it. The cases available either do not allow the use of the built in kickstand or the excellent Microsoft keyboard or both!
The FreedomCase is designed to avoid these problems and to be used in conjunction with Microsoft’s Touch or Type covers. The case uses the built in kickstand as a base and wraps around the back of the Surface and then over the front. This means the normal kickstand cannot be used itself but is the basis for a solid looking adjustable stand. The case is to be available in black vinyl and a PU leather and adds surprisingly little bulk to the Surface at less than 3mm thick. Crucially the case works with all versions of the Surface, Surface RT and Surface Pro and has approval direct from Microsoft.
At the time of writing the Kickstarter has achieved its $40,000 goal achieving $98,173 with 22 days still to run. The lowest available tier to recieve a case is $39 with an extra $10 to ship outside the US and an estimated delivery date of April to May depending on your location.
