Our bedding is not something we think about often.  As long as it fits, is clean and feels nice we do not pay much attention to it.  Startup Cocona Natural Technologies is out to change this with their Sleep 37.5 Bedding.  This bedding is designed to let heat and moisture escape your body in the night.  The logic behind this is that in the day time your body temperature is constant at about 37.5 degrees Celsius.  At night this drops by about a degree and you tend to sweat to do so.  This sweat cannot evaporate properly due to the bedding so you sweat more.  The 37.5  bedding is designed to let moisture through which will let you cool without over sweating.

Their website gives a large amount of study data from the Swiss Federal Laboratories for Material Science and Technology and the data does seem to show an improvement in sleep patterns.  The studies are small and more work will have to be done to prove the science but at first blush it does seem reasonable.  The bedding system including mattress pads, sheets, duvet covers and pillows is already available in the US via Select Comfort, QVC and  Brookstone /  Bed Bath & Beyond with prices starting at $100.  At the moment there does not appear to be any UK distributors but it is possible that a US distributor could ship them.

If the technology is proven this fabric could be extended from the bed to clothing – exercise gear and underwear would be the first obvious choices.
