The Ergohacks Verdict
Mousemats are not naturally something that people often get excited over but, when I was looking to build a new VR-ready PC, I realized that the rather old mouse mat I was using just wasn’t going to be up to snuff. Enter the PureTrak Talent Gaming Mousemat.
The Talent is a huge – 19 x 14 inch or 48 x 35.5 cm and turned out to be much thicker than I expected at almost a full centimetre deep. It’s a traditional style rubber backed and cloth top mat and the cloth has been treated so it’s much lower friction. I’ve used a variety of mats over the years and this is the lowest friction cloth mat I’ve ever used – on par with some of the metal mouse mats, but without their other issues.
I’m always looking for simple ways to improve the time I spent at my desk and the mouse mat is very easy to overlook, but updating mine made a significant difference to both comfort and productivity – the biggest bonus is that I can finally get the most out of my mouse. After 18 months of use it’s starting to fray a bit around the edges, but it’s still in a very good state for a heavy use item and other than cosmetic reasons, I don’t see any reason to change it out anytime soon.

The Talent looks like a traditional mouse mat – just much larger than you’ll find on most desks. It has a honeycomb pattern with the combs a lighter shade of grey and a logo in the bottom right. Touch it and you can see why you want it – it’s very, smooth and makes a noticeable difference in how well your mouse moves.
