ComicCon is one of the big points of the geek calendar and the New York version of the San Diego event has been gaining in stature on its big brother – it starts today and runs until Sunday. As you would expect from a Comic convention there are a huge amount of comics but also representatives from pretty much any type of modern media – games, movies, artists, books and television as well as large amounts of cosplay.
To list all the guests and notable people expected to attend would take pages but to pick out a very few from TV, movies and books there will be Adam West (Batman), Arthur Darvill (Dr Who), Billy Zabka (Karate Kid), Christian Kane (Angel), Daniel Portman (Game of Thrones), Gillian Anderson, Jonny Lee Miller, Lucy Liu, Patrick Stewart, Ron Perlman, Seth Green, William Shatner, Kim Harrison (The Hollows), Patrick Rothfuss, Cory Doctorow, and literally hundreds of others.
Panels, screenings and talks are an important part of any con and the NY ComiCon has almost 400 scheduled; Finally there are over 1000 individual exhibitors selling and showing off almost everything that any geek would like to see (list here) – as always too much to take it all in.
If you do not already have tickets you are unfortunately out of luck – they are all sold out already with no more available on the door. Very little of the Con is available directly online but I’m sure there will be a deluge of pictures on Twitter and some interesting leaks from some of the panels.
