A little bit more about us

Welcome to Ergohacks. This is our road-less-travelled-page because sometimes backstory is important. Let me explain:

Ergohacks is a small, curated corner of the internet. We sift through on-line shops, blogs, news and review site and we pick out the coolest things we can find, try them and if we love them and the people who design, make and sell them, we recommend them to our on-line community. If you’re after some nifty stuff instead of a story, stop reading and click here to go to our main page to find our latest recommendations. If you’re after our succinct about page, stop reading and click here.

Now that we’ve gotten rid of eager readers who do not have time to waste on stories, I’ll start typing in longer paragraphs.

Ergohacks’ most precious commodity is our word, but it can be hard to trust people you don’t know. We hope that our reputation precedes us, but we’re building a community and means sharing a bit more personal information. We’re a small family business – that means there’s the two of us, Chris and Lily, our daughter (very helpful) and two cats (not so helpful). Between us we live with a variety of challenges, including:

  • TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury)
  • Asperger Syndrome
  • Tritanopia
  • EDS-H/HMS
  • Type 1 Diabetes
  • Migraine
  • Depression
  • OCD
  • Asthma & Allergies
  • POTS
  • chronic fatigue, chronic pain
  • and Feline Cerebellar Hypoplasia.

It a challenging life.

Aren’t cats just so helpful?

We have been through some tough times, at times barely scraping by. We have lived on pennies, making tough decisions between buying food or heating during the coldest months of winter. We have struggled with bureaucracy and as appreciative as we are of the British health and welfare system, have dealt with many challenges raised during periods where we accepted help from CHC (NHS’ continuing health care service) and social services. We have faced the challenges of employment, self-employment and unemployment due to disability and chronic health concerns. We know intimately what it is like to be a full-time family carer whilst also dealing with your own chronic health issues and/or full-time employment with less than understanding employers.  We are parents, caretakers and avid supporters of living an ethical life.

We didn’t want to be defined by the challenges we face, but by the decisions we make to overcome them. At Ergohacks we share the solutions we find so that others can build on our experiences to create their own successes.
