Kirsten Dirksen – Tiny homes and sustainability

We all have our favorite TV shows that we eagerly await the next episode of. Some we admit to and some we do not. I have one Youtube subscription which I have been monitoring for years that I have watched and rewatched and for which I’m always very happy to get an update on. So what does the channel cover? Kirsten Dirksen describes her work as :

Videos about simple living, self-sufficiency, small (and tiny) homes, backyard gardens (and livestock), alternative transport, DIY, craftsmanship and philosophies of life.

Dig a little deeper and you find the site Faircompanies which she and her husband setup as:

An independent website with information and tools on simple living.

We talk about simple living, technology, reason, enlightenment, markets, philosophy, fairness, well being. We invite you to participate and share formulas to improve the world right now, beyond the noise of demonstrations or the imposition of ideologies.

I used to produce tv shows for US networks like MTV, Travel Channel, Oxygen, Sundance Channel. Then I moved to Barcelona, helped start faircompanies and started making online videos. Two decades ago, I studied economics at Harvard. Now, I like tiny homes, Spanish food culture & parenting traditions, American DIY & entrepreneurship, my mother-in-law’s backyard garden (the source of our organic veggies), my mother’s frugality and my father’s craftsmanship.

So what are the videos about? Tiny homes, simple living, crafts, sustainability, electric vehicles and clothing. They range from relatively short form 5 or 10 minutes to several multi hour documentaries that follow Dirksen and her family as they travel from location to location.

All the videos have Dirksen’s friendly but informative style and excellent camera work. Dig in and enjoy!
