Never run out of charge

Technology is an integral part of our lives, particularly as our daughter's diabetes control relies on data displayed on our mobile phones. We dread running out of charge and as a result, have built up an extensive kit of batteries, chargers and sturdy cables that keep our devices running, with or without access to the power grid.

We're set-up for traveling, long days without access to a charge point and off-grid camping for up to two weeks. We're also keen users of fast-charge options, docking and plugging in when at home and are developing our wireless charging options.

Batteries

Batteries aren't glamorous, but they're essential. A good battery is one of those little behind the scenes things that keep everything running smoothly. We always have at least one battery and when we travel, we usually have a stack. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes for a wide range of uses. If you don't have one in your bag, get one. You will be needing it.

Chargers and cool cables

Charging devices is an inescapable chore and everyone wants their chargers and cables to work fast and reliably. Charging used to be simple - plug your devices into the wall socket or USB outlet with the cable and wall charger provided. Then we got more devices and when travelling in particular, charging is less straightforward with one plug and many things to plug in. We're believers in getting things right - even the small things - and that sometimes means upgrading to a better cable or investing in a specialist charger.

Solar chargers

Solar chargers need sun. They're excellent when spending a lot of time outdoors in the summer months, particularly when adventuring off-grid. They're still useful on overcast days and usually will continue to provide a trickle charge large enough to keep your phone running. They are less useful in the winter months when many of us hibernate indoors, but even as a seasonal product, it's well worth the investment.
