Novelty T-shirts have a long-standing tradition, but it’s difficult to find a novelty T-shirt that is new and unusual. The Caffeine molecule design, worn by Leonard in The Big Bang Theory is a classic in fan circles, but not commonly seen down at the pub or in supermarket aisles.

A black 100% cotton Fruit of the Loom T-shirt is about £2.80. A black 100% cotton Fruit of the Loom T-shirt is £10. A novelty T-shirt is £15 – 20. This is not a budget choice T-shirt, neither is it particularly cost-effective when it comes to value for money compared to a simple black T-shirt, but in the novelty T-shirt market, it’s a bit of a bargain.

It isn’t a top of the line ecological choice, but Fruit of the Loom is a well-known company who treat their employees fairly, hold both an Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification and WRAP certification. Fruit of Loom is known for making good quality, budget clothing and this is a good quality T-shirt. It won’t last forever, but neither will it fall apart after a few washes. It hasn’t shrunk, hasn’t faded and it has sparked quite a few interesting conversations.

Novelty T-shirts have been around for a long time and isn’t going anywhere soon. This particular T-shirt is a novel design and I particularly like that it doesn’t state what it is boldly in print. Also that the molecule is correctly printed. The logo is large enough that someone across the table can clearly read it, but understated enough to be suitable for most T-shirt wearing occasions.

The T-shirt itself is good quality with a standard male cut, not too long, not too short and fits loosely. It’s a nice T-shirt and a great conversation starter. Recommended for T-shirt wearing caffeine + science enthusiasts.
