Last week we reported on the start of Urban Food Fortnight – this week another festival is starting, British Food Fortnight. The festival is an annual two week long event which is designed to show off British produce and advertise British food and food companies. It was started to try and bring a number of smaller local events that all ran at the same time under one umbrella and as such as events countrywide.
I had a look near me and found a organic market with range of stalls including food, crafts and cloth and a Farmers’ Market with a mobile farm, children’s activities, displays, craft demonstrations and a programme of musical entertainment in the next couple of weeks. Both were new to me and both are regular events that I might be interested in attending regularly.
The British Food website also has a number of budget tips that I found interesting and worth reading, some of which are common sense but some are worth thinking on. This time of year has a number of foody events to tie in with harvest time and is a good time to reconsider your diet and think what positive changes you can make.
