If you haven’t read much of anything for a while, this is a great place to start. Short titles almost doesn’t feel like reading at all. Excellent for anyone, including beginner readers, who want to read more, but don’t feel they have the time and energy to pick up a full-length novel.

Shorter books are often better on paper. They usually have something extra – textured pages, beautiful illustrations – that adds to the pleasure of reading them. There’s nothing wrong with reading short books, they can be evocative, informative and thought provoking.

We’re compiling an eclectic mix of short books with substance. If nature, science, art, literary fiction or reference books seem boring to you, try a short first, they might surprise you.

Epic reads

Epic length stories are some of the best. There is room to develop characters, pack in complex plots and create whole new universes.

If you breeze through the average mystery or crime novel, look no further, there’s some really great fiction series that have so much more to offer. Many of our choices are science-fiction and fantasy – if you’re not into either – broaden your horizons and give it a try. You won’t regret it.
