Aqua Sphere Seal Kid 2 Swimming Goggles Review

Children’s goggles are difficult to find. There are plenty of options on the market, but matching the right pair to the right child often only happens after many failed attempts. The Aqua Sphere Seal Kid 2 swimming goggles is a great pair of starter swimming goggles. The mask style makes them easier to fit correctly, they provide a 180° visibility, offer 100% UVA/UVB protection and work as well on the beach as in the pool.

A word about leaky goggles

Goggles leak for a number of reasons. They may be the wrong shape or size for you, the integrity of the seal may have been compromised or you didn’t put them on correctly. Try the four steps below with a variety of google styles, shapes and sizes to find the right fit.

Step 1: Try the goggles without the strap and if there isn’t complete suction for a few seconds, they don’t fit and will leak.
Step 2: Fit the strap snug but not tight a finger or two above the ears. Children have a tendency to pull the strap lower which changes the angle and breaks the seal.
Step 3: Tuck away your hair. Any hair caught in the strap can break the seal.
Step 4: Check the fit. Goggles should be comfortable and not distort your vision. If they are uncomfortable, try a different shape.

Generic swimming goggles for children start at a few pounds whilst brand-name goggles is priced around £7 – £20. Cheap versions usually are for surface swim only, are not UV-resistent, fog up and made of less durable materials. A quality pair of goggles is made with attention to detail from materials that provide a comfortable, superior fit, tight seal and eye protection. Aqua Sphere is a reputable brand and their goggles are well-made to last. The larger cut makes it easier to fit a larger range of face shapes and sizes, which make these a good choice and great value for money.

The Aqua Sphere Seal Kid 2 Swimming Goggles is an excellent pair of goggles for new swimmers. Easy to fit, comfortable to wear, providing a wide field of vision above and under water, they provide excellent encouragement and support for children discovering the pleasure of underwater swimming and diving. It is vital that they are fitted appropriately – we had some water leakage and initially thought it was due to the integrity of the seal breaking, but as it turned out, the strap was too low and hair caught in the seal was the true culprit.

An excellent pair of goggles that will last. Highly recommended.
