The AOC Q2778VQE is a 27″ LED-backlit LCD monitor with a WQHD resolution of 2560×1440. I have had the pleasure of using it for the last few weeks and it has performed beyond my expectations.
It is a good size monitor for both gaming and split screens nicely for office tasks. The TN panel is sufficiently fast to avoid ghosting or shadow-trail, it has an excellent 1ms response time and unlike most TN panels, it is able to display the 16.7 million colour shades that are available from graphics cards.
I have plugged it into a mid-range laptop and it has worked seamlessly, the glossy black and silver finish looks nice on my desk and it has performed perfectly.
The only drawback is that although it tilts and swivels, it is not height adjustable. It isn’t a big deal – it has VESA mount capability that negates it totally or just place it on a large book, shelf or monitor riser.
Included in the box: Monitor and VGA, DVI, Displayport and power cables
AOC, “Admiral Overseas Corporation”, was founded in Taiwan in 1967 and is now part of TPV Technology Limited, a PC monitor manufacturer who ships around 15 million monitors worldwide per year.
It is one of the big name brands in computer monitors and have a reputation for reliability, durability and their top of the line monitors are some of the best on the market.
The Ergohacks Evaluation
The AOC Q2778VQE is accessible to people with diverse abilities. The 27″ inch size combined with crisp rendering makes it a good choice for anyone with a mild to moderate visual impairment.
It’s design accommodates a wide range of individual preferences and circumstances. I have used it in a brightly lit room, a dimly lit room, during the day and at night and it performs well under all lighting settings.
It is easy to set up, its settings out of the box are reasonable and it’ll work well for most users straight out of the box.
It is a good quality screen that makes viewing a pleasure. It tilts and swivels, but it is not height adjustable.
If the standard height is not ergonomic for your particular setup, make sure to raise it or mount it. This could be done very simply with a pile of books, a shelf or a monitor riser although you have to make sure to get one that can handle the size and weight.
The screen also has a standard VESA mount and would be a good choice if you are planning to mount it on an arm. The built in stand is entirely removable.

There is a second hand market for 27″ LED monitors and due to its durability, it should be easy to resell or donate when no longer needed. Most of the materials can be recycled and their are a variety of free recycling schemes that will collect old monitors to disassemble and recycle.
It is a cost-effective choice. At the moment 27″ monitors are becoming the norm for gaming, hobby and work screens and its WQHD resolution of 2560×1440 makes it very desirable.
It is at an entry level price point for this type of monitor and very well priced.

Appropriate computer to plug it into. To get the most out of a monitor you want to match the native resolution of the monitor (2560×1440) to one your computer can also natively produce.
If you have a mid-range computer it’s a great choice as the screen will do very well and the extras higher performance screens could provide would be lost in any case as the computer would not be able to use it. Plugged into my laptop it ran like a dream – no flickering, crisp colours and best of all, it never overtaxed my laptop resulting in soft fanless countless hours of use.
As a gaming monitor it runs well, the display is crisp and TN panel performs really well – colours are bright and well rendered. A 27″ screen is large enough for split screen tasks – have two spreadsheets open or a textbook and document for students. Highly recommended monitor perfect to pair with an entry – midrange level laptop or PC for every day gaming, computer use and work tasks.
