We have many reusable water bottles. I have carried one on and off for 20 years and in that time have built up a big selection – this one is bigger, this one has a filter, this one is tougher and so on. Some bottles have stood the test of time and others have failed quickly.
The Aladdin .35 litre Aveo has stood the test of time – around 3 years at this point. It has done it by being a simple, lightweight, eco-friendly, leak proof bottle. It is made out of BPA free Eastman Tritan copolyester which is stain, smell and shatter resistant.
Price:£6.49 – £12
Included in the box: Water bottle
About Aladdin and Pacific Market International (PMI)
“Aladdin is a brand of privately held Pacific Market International (PMI) which is also proud owner of the iconic Stanley® brand. PMI is headquartered in Seattle, with offices in London. Shanghai and Manila.” Aladdin was started in 1908… Believe it or not, Aladdin’s beginnings trace back to lamps…..
It all started in 1908, when Victor Samuel Johnson Sr, a soap salesman, in Chicago, Ill, became interested in kerosene mantle burners. Dissatisfied with the available kerosene lamps of the time, Johnson began selling and dealing US made mantle lamps. He incorporated his lamp sales business and called the company the Mantle Lamp Company of America.
In 1912 the company began manufacturing mantle lamps that gave off a steady white light without smoke and called these lamps “Aladdin lamps,” after the magical lamp and wish-granting genie in the popular children’s story. The Aladdin name was born.” PMI purchased Aladdin in 2002. Read more about Aladdin here on their official site.
PMI has a robut CSR (corporate social responsibility) policy in place, available on the PMI site here.
Aveo bottles use a unique lid structure with two sections. First there is a unscrewable lid that exposes an easy-pour spout but this itself is removable to give a wide-mouth to the bottle for cleaning and refilling. Under the wide mouth is a ring with an attached fabric handle. The main body of the bottle is slightly curved in which makes is easier to hold and the plastic is very slightly rough which makes it less slippy than you would expect.
- At .35l the Aveo is small as water bottles go and is best used if you can refill regularly through the day, also ideal for children.
- The range of printed designs makes it suitable for most. We deliberately went with a neutral white and grey design so that any one of us is happy to use it.
- The top lid of the Aveo is quite large and gives a good area to grip which makes it appropriate for those with hand problems. The strap also helps for this although I’ve found it better for hanging the bottle as it’s a little short to go over my wrist.
Environment & People
Water bottles are relatively cheap these days and the Aveo range goes from £6 to £18. The main difference between the models is the decoration so if money is tight you can get a less popular look. We’ve been using our Aveo for 3 years on a near daily basis and it has stayed solid and not leaked in that time.

Water bottles are something that have snuck into our bags over the last 20 years. We’ve gone from them being rare to everyone having one. The Aveo line has four big advantages – a wide range of colour and style, leakproof, small, easy to hold and made from durable recycled and recyclable plastic.
There is a larger Aveo at 700ml, twice the size, but the smaller version is ideal for small handbags, young children and even full it is lightweight and can easily be refilled. Highly recommended.
